On July 19, 2024, the Santo Domingo law student chapter in the Dominican Republic was created at a meeting led by Zeneida Gómez, Area Chair for the Caribbean Area of the Law Society, and Ingrid Martínez, Chapter Chair of the Santo Domingo Attorney Chapter.  Law student Alicia Vargas selected as the Chapter Chair for the new chapter.

During the meeting, leaders shared the mission of the Law Society, with an emphasis on providing pro bono service in the community and promoting religious freedom. The benefits of student membership were also discussed, including receiving assistance in academic and professional careers, and enrichment in training and professional development.  Ms. Gómez and Ms. Martinez each shared their vision of how the JRCLS strengthens the legal community, emphasizing the importance of ethical commitment and service to others as fundamental pillars for any lawyer who aspires to make a significant difference in their environment.

Law students were also invited to join the student chapter by creating a profile on jrcls.org, thus joining a global network of thousands of lawyers and law school graduates. New student members include Jockaury Espino, Jack Aquino, Maria Rodriguez, Alvi Lora and Lourdes Zapata. Ms. Jockabel Espino, a long-time collaborator with the Law Society, also attended.

The J. Reuben Clark Law Society continues to invite all interested attorneys and law students to join the organization and actively participate in making positive contributions within the legal field.
