Women’s Rights Legal Literacy Drive Part 3

Continuing our commitment to grassroots legal empowerment, the J. Reuben Clark Law Society Philippines Area - Philippines Mindanao Chapter and Student Chapter successfully mounted the third installment of Women’s Rights Legal Literacy Drive.

As part of the 2026 JRCLS May Month of Service, this third leg brought crucial legal advocacy to the Cugman Chapel in Cagayan de Oro City on May 30, 2026. Building on the success of our previous literacy drives, this session focused on equipping mothers, solo parents, women, and young ladies (mga inahan, solo parents, kababayen-an, ug mga batan-ong dalaga) with the tools to understand their legal protections and confidently navigate their rights.

We are incredibly grateful to our exceptional panel of volunteer lawyers who led this third chapter of our legal education series:

Atty. Lezl Gusay – shared invaluable insights on RA 9262 (The Anti-Violence Against Women and Their Children Act of 2004)

Atty. Kris Hannah Origenes – broke down the provisions of RA 11313 (The Safe Spaces Act / "Bawal Bastos Law")

Atty. Yrrem Ubagan – discussed the updates under RA 11861 (The Expanded Solo Parents Welfare Act)

With each leg of this series, our mission remains the same: to bridge the gap between the law and the community, ensuring no woman is left in the dark about her rights. Thank you to our tireless volunteers, partners, and attendees for making this ongoing series a powerful force for change!
