A meaningful dialogue on faith, unity, and peacebuilding took place during the Family and Peacebuilding: A Religious Freedom Forum held on March 25, 2026, at Seda Abreeza, Davao City.
The forum brought together individuals and organizations committed to promoting religious freedom and fostering mutual respect among diverse faith traditions. Organized in collaboration with the Philippine Center for Islam and Democracy, BYU Law, and Religions for Peace Philippines, the event provided a platform for discussions centered on the vital role of families and faith communities in building lasting peace.
A highlight of the event was the keynote address delivered by Elder Erich W. Kopischke of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. In his message, he emphasized that strong families are foundational to peacebuilding, teaching values such as love, respect, moral responsibility, and understanding within the home. He underscored that when these principles are nurtured in families, they naturally extend to communities, fostering harmony and strengthening societies.
Members of the JRCLS – Philippines Area were present at the forum, representing the Society and actively participating in this important conversation. Their attendance underscored the organization’s continuing commitment to uphold religious liberty, strengthen interfaith understanding, and contribute to peacebuilding efforts in society.
The gathering highlighted the vital role that legal professionals play in safeguarding religious freedom and promoting harmony across different beliefs. Through shared insights and meaningful exchanges, participants were reminded that respect, dialogue, and collaboration—beginning within the family—are essential in building a more peaceful and inclusive community.
