The panel session will consist of remarks from three speakers, and a Q&A session open to the audience.
Speakers:
Uzair Kayani is an Associate Professor of Law at LUMS, Pakistan's premier university. Professor Kayani will introduce key legal principles that form the basis of freedom of religion and belief.
Sikander Shah is an Associate Professor of Law at LUMS, Pakistan's premier university. Professor Shah will discuss the central role played by the rule of law in protecting human rights and religious freedoms.
Saba Shaikh is the Executive Director of Dastak Society, a private shelter and rights-based institution providing crisis management, legal aid, protection, and rehabilitation services to women and children at risk. Director Shaikh will discuss possibilities for the development of religious freedom at policy and community levels in Pakistan.
The event will be hybrid, with both in-person and virtual attendance. It is open to students, lawyers, academics, and others with a keen interest in advancing religious freedoms.
