About this event

Location:

All Conference events will be held at the Ranchmen’s Club, 710 13 Avenue S.W., Calgary, Alberta. The historic Ranchmen's Club, operating since 1891, sits in the Beltline district, just south of Calgary's downtown core.

Parking:

There is free guest parking on the lower level of the Ranchmen's underground parkade, or along the neighbouring streets.

Conference Speakers:

The conference will feature the following speakers:

  • A Member of the Canada Area Presidency, The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints

  • Father Deacon Andrew Bennett, Canada’s first Ambassador for Religious Freedom

  • Nate Oman, Leading expert on Church legal history and tradition

  • Canada Area Office of General Counsel Presentation, The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints

Conference Schedule:

FRIDAY:

  • 5:30 - 6:30pm – Opening Social/Networking Reception in the third-floor lounge of the Ranchmen’s; soft drinks & hors d’oeuvres will be served

  • 6:30 - 7:30pm – Dinner Service

  • 7:30 - 8:15pm – Evening Speaker: Father Deacon Andrew Bennett

  • 8:15 - 9:00pm – Dessert & Socializing

  • 9:00 - 10:00pm – Student Event: Sundae Ice Cream Bar & Networking

SATURDAY:

  • 8:30 - 9:30am – Breakfast will be served on the third floor of the Ranchmen’s Club

  • 9:30 - 10:20am – SESSION 1 - Speaker: Nate Oman

  • BREAK

  • 10:30 - 11:20am – SESSION 2 - Speaker: Canada Area OGC

  • BREAK

  • 11:30 - 12:30pm – SESSION 3 - Speaker: Canada Area Presidency Member, TBA

 CONCURRENT SATURDAY SPOUSE / GUEST PROGRAM:

  • 8:30 - 9:30am – Breakfast will be served on the third floor of the Ranchmen’s Club

  • 9:30 – 10:00am – Private Art tour of the Ranchmen’s Club

  • 10:15 – 11:15am – Private tour of the historic Lougheed House (across the street from the Ranchmen’s Club)

  • 11:30 – 12:30pm - Return to the Ranchmen's to join SESSION 3 - Speaker: Canada Area Presidency Member, TBA

Pricing:

Registration pricing is based on category of attendee:

  • Lawyer (private practice, government, non-profit, non-practicing)

  • Law Student (law school students & Articling students)

Dress Code:

Note that the Ranchmen’s Club has a dress code for guests. All areas of the Club require Business Casual attire as a minimum. Per the Club's dress code, Business Casual means collared shirts (dress shirts or polo shirts) for men, and no blue jeans with rips or baseball caps.

Continuing Legal Education:

Attendees should check with their home jurisdictions to apply for possible CLE credit.
