Summer 2024 Student Highlights

The JRCLS student chapters kept busy over the summer! The Philippines Student Chapter played a major role in the preparation of the Asia Pacific Conference at the beginning of June 2024 held in Cebu, Philippines. The organization, and preparation of welcome kits, t-shirts, social media, brochures, and even some of the hosting  were done by the students.

Rigel Belleza of the student board said, “I am so proud of all the hard work our team has done, considering not one of the working committee are from Cebu... we had to travel there by plane and even lost our luggage and had to wait several hours to find it. [This delay] pushed back our preparation time [to] get all the kits together before... 6:00 a.m. the day after... It was inspiring, invigorating and we couldn't be more proud of the outcome!”

The student and professional chapters in the Philippines are close, connecting via social media to plan events, exchange questions, and solve problems.

With the new school year, law student members of the Law Society have welcomed new members from the incoming classes. University of Idaho School of Law has a strong chapter under its newly elected chair Christian Lee. They hold weekly law and religion classes on both campuses, and hold regular speaker series with JRCLS members and faith panels with other Christian clubs on campus. They are already looking to the future.

“For the next year, we are planning on doing more of the same things, with more networking events to attract students who are not [members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints] and service projects,” said Lee. “We are also hoping to begin a monthly seminar in Moscow concerning famous religious leaders and lawyers.”

The future is bright for the student chapters!
