On 1 June 2026, the New Zealand Hamilton Chapter was pleased to host Angel Zimmerman, International Chair of the J. Reuben Clark Law Society, who visited the area prior to participating in the 2026 JRCLS Asia Pacific Philippines Conference in Auckland, New Zealand, from 5 June 2026 to 7 June 2026.
During her visit, Angel and other members of the Hamilton Chapter met with students across all ages in the Hamilton area, including at Maeroa Intermediate (ages 11-13 years), Mangakōtukutuku College (13-18 years) and University of Waikato students at the Hillcrest Institute Building. Professor Tafaoimalo Leilani Tuala-Warren, Dean of the University of Waikato School of Law, and Associate Professor Robert Joseph kindly hosted a morning tea for the Law Society visitors where Ms. Zimmerman addressed staff and students, planting the seed of friendship between the Society and the University.
The Law Society contingency also met with local practitioners from Hamilton during a business breakfast, followed by a visit to the home of a JRCLS member who had suffered an injury.
After three busy days, Hamilton Chapter members ended Ms. Zimmerman’s trip to the area by treating her to a tour of Hobbiton from the Lord of the Ring movies. Chapter members enjoyed hosting the international chair prior to the multi-area conference in Auckland and were happy to continue their efforts to expand the positive influence of the Law Society in Hamilton.
