Harvard Law Student Chapter Event Highlight

The positive impact of Law Society events often continue long after the activity has ended. That is the case with the historic event hosted last spring by the Harvard Law School Student Chapter with Ruth L. Okediji, Harvard law professor and scholar, and Kevin J. Worthen, former president of Brigham Young University and JRCLS member. A recent Deseret News article about Okediji referenced the event, which was held April 10, 2024.

Addressing HLS students at a gathering on the Harvard University campus in Massachusetts, USA, Okediji and Worthen discussed the role faith plays in their pursuit of both educational excellence and as legal professionals.

Speaking about the event, current HLS student chapter chair, Zachary Weaver, said, “it was a privilege for our chapter to host this conversation with Professor Okediji and President Worthen on how faith shaped their legal careers.” Speaking about Okediji, Weaver stated she has been “a shining light and wonderful example of faith-filled leadership to Harvard students, particularly the members of our chapter.” He also expressed thanks to Okediji and Worthen for their devoted service throughout their lives.

The event was planned by the 2023 - 2024 HLS Chapter Board, including Speakers Chair, Brecken Denler, and former Chapter Chair, Zach Westhoff.
