Brazil Juiz de Fora Chapter Participates in Interfaith Dialogue

At the invitation of the Municipal Committee for Respect for Religious Diversity, the Brazil Juiz de Fora Chapter of the J. Reuben Clark Law Society participated in a roundtable discussion on religious freedom on January 9, 2026. The event was organized by Professor André Yuri Gomes Abijaudi of the Religious Studies Program at the Federal University of Juiz de Fora (UFJF), and Maíla Lúcia Leal de Oliveira, chapter chair, represented the Law Society at the event.

The gathering was characterized by thoughtful dialogue, mutual respect, and a sincere exchange of perspectives. Religious leaders and students shared personal experiences and reflections, demonstrating that meaningful dialogue remains a powerful means of building understanding across differences. Ms. de Oliveira also gave a presentation on the principles and purposes of the J. Reuben Clark Law Society, emphasizing its commitment to faith, ethics, service, and the promotion of human rights.

Initiatives such as this affirm that peaceful religious pluralism is not only possible, but essential. They foster respect for diverse expressions of faith, as well as for the freedom not to profess any faith, strengthening a shared commitment to human dignity and the protection of religious freedom.
