Over the past six weeks, Law Society members in the Brazil Area organized events across multiple chapters. The monthly Area meeting, held on October 24, 2024, brought together chapter presidents and leaders to discuss updates, including website navigation tips, Leadership Conference highlights, and plans for the 2025 Brazil Area Conference in Belo Horizonte.
Local chapters also various hosted in-person and virtual events:
Natal chapter: Featured a compelling lecture on religious freedom by Dr. Alysson Galvão.
São Paulo chapter: Organized a live discussion on refugees, featuring legal, historical, and humanitarian insights. They also held a separate event with a virtual talk on the economic impacts of religious freedom.
Jundiaí chapter: Prepared a diverse panel on love and coexistence.
Rio de Janeiro chapter: Hosted an interfaith celebration with distinguished speakers and choirs.
About the Author
Claudio Klaus (B.A, LLB, M.A.) is a GPLL.M Student at the University of Toronto. After earning his law degree, he clerked at the Roraima State Court of Appeals and gained experience as a Legal Extern at the Arizona Supreme Court. Claudio's academic journey includes researching sanitation regulations in Canada and Brazil for his master's degree. He also spent a semester as a research trainee at Osgoode Hall Law School in Toronto. Beyond his legal career, Claudio hosts the podcast "Studying Law Around the World," where he delves into legal careers and studies across different jurisdictions. He is an Outreach Officer of the Executive Committee of the Canadian Bar Association’s Law Students Section.
