The conference was marked by a spirit of fellowship and belonging. For many participants, especially those who practice law in areas with relatively small Society membership, the gathering served as a reminder that they are part of a global community united by shared values and common purpose. As International Chair Angel Zimmermann emphasized, members should strive to “be engaged, be involved, [and] be connectors.”
Throughout the conference, speakers explored the many ways legal professionals can bless individuals, families, communities, and societies. Participants were encouraged not only to excel professionally but also to serve as examples of integrity, faith, and leadership wherever they are planted.
A particularly meaningful aspect of the conference was the “Student Spotlight” session. Several law students shared their aspirations and experiences, offering insight into the next generation of legal professionals. One student’s advice resonated when he shared, “find what you love, and go hard at it.”
Speakers also encouraged law students to pursue areas of law that genuinely inspire them, reminding attendees that meaningful careers are often built by following personal interests while trusting divine guidance. Mentorship, lifelong learning, and maintaining an equal commitment to both spiritual and professional growth were recurring themes throughout these discussions.
The conference also featured presentations focused on personal well-being and professional resilience. During his presentation on stress management, Paulo Bisogno, a psychologist with Family Services in New Zealand, encouraged attendees to be intentional about their habits, priorities, and self-awareness. Discussions on professional wellness reminded participants that effectiveness in the legal profession is strengthened when individuals care for their spiritual, emotional, and physical well-being.
Several speakers reflected on the importance of trusting the Lord’s guidance throughout one’s professional journey. During a breakout session, Winston McCarthy, a partner at Manaia Legal in Auckland, shared an important reminder: “Trust God has a plan for you.” Personal stories illustrated how unexpected opportunities, faithful service, and seemingly small decisions can lead to significant blessings. Participants were encouraged to recognize the value of Church service, leadership experiences, and volunteer efforts as meaningful preparation for professional life. 
Another recurring theme was the importance of balance and presence. Speakers referenced counsel from leaders of The Church of Jesus Christ about giving proper attention to the responsibilities that matter most. One memorable principle, attributed to Elder David A. Bednar of the Church, reminded participants: “When you are at work, be at work. When you are at home, be at home.” The message encourages us to be fully present in our professional, family, Church, and community responsibilities.
Speakers also noted that members often underestimate the impact of their daily example. Whether through professional conduct, service to clients, interactions with colleagues, or simple acts of kindness, Society members have countless opportunities to demonstrate gospel principles in action. As one speaker observed, “plant the seed[s], water them, nurture them, and they will take root and grow.”
Another significant announcement was the upcoming leadership transition in the Area. After three years of service as Area Chair, Matthew Pawson, current volunteer chair of the Pacific Area, announced that Soraya Barker will assume the role in October 2026. The transition reflects the Society’s ongoing commitment to developing leaders and strengthening its presence throughout the region. Looking forward, leaders expressed optimism about the future of the Society in the Pacific Area.
The conference concluded with four inspirational invitations to every member:
1 – Become active in the Law Society.
2 – Invite others to participate in the Society.
3 – Volunteer to serve.
4 – Strive to serve as the Savior would.
These simple yet powerful invitations captured the essence of the conference theme.
As members returned to their homes, law practices, and communities, they carried with them a renewed commitment to “lift where they stand,” because, as Matthew Pawson stated, “when we lift where we stand, individuals, families, communities, and societies are blessed.”
